FAQ

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A REGISTERED DIETITIAN AND NUTRITIONIST?

Registered Dietitians (RDs) are skilled in dietetics. They require extensive education and supervised experience before sitting for a national registration exam. Continuing education is required to maintain RD credentialing. The term 'Nutritionist' can be applied to anyone who offers general nutrition advice and are not dietitians.

WILL MY HEALTH INSURANCE COVER THESE SERVICES?

Libby is currently in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois (PPO plans).  Coverage for nutrition counseling varies by plan, so please verify your specific insurance benefits before scheduling your initial assessment.

If you have insurance coverage through another provider, please check your out-of-network benefits/coverage. She can provide you with a superbill to submit to the insurance provider for reimbursement after the session.

HOW LONG ARE APPOINTMENTS?

The first session will be 60 minutes. Follow-up following can range from 30-60 minutes, depending on an individual's needs.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY FIRST SESSION?

The first session will take the time to get to know you and personally understand where you are right now in terms of your history, lifestyle, and diet. Libby will explore what your overall goals are and if this would be a great partnership. Libby will work to create an individual action plan to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

DO YOU OFFER SLIDING SCALE SESSIONS?

Libby offers a select number of sliding scale sessions. If you are out-of-network and looking for a reduced fee, please reach out to discuss payment options. A limited number of sliding scale appointments are available upon request.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELATION POLICY?

Cancelations and re-scheduling of sessions should take place at least 48 hours (business days) prior to the scheduled time. If the cancel/reschedule is less than 48 hours (business days), you will be responsible for the entire session fee. If no response is provided around availability for rescheduling session times within the business day of cancelation, it will be considered a failure to show. Failure to show to a scheduled appointment will result in a charge for a full session fee. Additionally, arrival to the scheduled session 10 minutes or later than the planned start time will be considered a failure to show.
